Dustex is a cost effective solution as the application rates and method could be adapted suit the particular situation. How does Dustex Works? An important property of this polymer is their strong binder ability. The chemical and physical binding action is as a result of strong intermolecular and adhesive forces of the molecule. The size of a molecule forms strong cohesive and adhesive bonds, responsible for the excellent strength of this binder. What the binder does is it glues the fine particles together and the treated surface layer becomes stiff, preventing subsequent generation of nuisance dust. Dustex is generally effective for different types of soils and as such is not particular material specific. Dustex can be applied by Spray-on surface method or Mix-in methods-the choice of method depends on the equipment available and the treatment required. The treated surface is smooth and hard with excellent traction, depending on the traffic frequencies, wear and tear on treated surfaces would cause the surface to starts to dust again. Hence, a maintenance and rejuvenation program should be put in place for Dustex application. The frequency of such rejuvenation will depend on the road material characteristics, climate, application method and traffic and should be carried out before significant deterioration has occurred.
