Polarization Beamsplitter Cubes split randomly polarized beams into two orthogonal,linearly,polarized components-S-polarized light is reflected at a 90deg.Angle while P-polarized light is transmitted.Each beamsplitter consists of a pair of precision high tolerance right angle prisms cemented together with a dielectric coating on the hypotenuse of one of prisms. A beamsplitter plate type is an optical window with semi-transparent mirrored coating to break a beam into two or more separate beams. A beamsplitter will reflect a portion of the incident energy, absorb a relatively small portion, and transmit the remaining energy. Beamsplitter plates have very neutral color characteristics and are often referred to as beam-splitters plate. A half-silvered mirror used in photography is often called a pellicle mirror. A beamsplitter cube is often made of two triangular glass prisms which are glued together with some transparent resin or cement.
