Water softener is a ion exchange process in which cation ion exchange resin is used to exchange calcium and magnesium salts in to sodium, so that hardness of the water is decreased to a major extent. Nacl Sodium chloride salt is used for regeneration of the water softener. Water softener is useful in the areas of Boiler feed water, Domestic applications like apartments, hotels, restaurants and hospitals where bore well water is used.
