DESCRIPTION OF THE FULL SCALE PLANT OZONE GENERATOR PLANT: Ozone is naturally produced during thunderstorms by lightenings which are triggered by high potential gradients. Technologically in Ozone Generators high voltages are generated and when oxygen is passed through the high voltage potential gradients in between electrodes, oxygen molecules split into nascent oxygen and one atom ‘O combines with another oxygen molecule O2 to form a new molecule Ozone (O3). Aurozons high concentration Ozone Generators are built modularly. The modular configuration minimizes the breakdown time by reducing the MTTR (Mean Time to Repair). The main cabinet has several racks according to the capacity of the Ozone Generator. Each rack houses 2 sub-modules. Each sub module produces Ozone at the concentration of 7% w/w at a rate of 120 gm/hr at nominal conditions. Each module has got an independent ON/OFF switch for service is purposes (easy isolation). 12 racks form one tower and any number towers can be added side wise to get the required capacity of the plant. Each tower produces about 3 kg/hr of ozone at 7% concentration. Each rack has its own panel to indicate the proper working of each module. One LED indicates the good functioning of the low voltage circuits and a second LED the functioning of the high voltage circuit and the high voltage electrodes. A third LED indicates that the cooling water flow and temperature are proper. These LEDs are flickering when there is problem. Also an audio buzzer is provided with each module to give audio warning whenever there is a problem in the modules. The ozone plant is designed to indicate the status of the entire plant during its functioning. Purity of Oxygen, Ozone concentration, Cooling water temperature both in and out and power consumed in each phase (Voltage, Current, Power) are displayed on the panel. Any parameter which goes out of range is indicated on the panel and by an audio warning signal. It also informs the user about the fault and when required, prompts the operator to call for service. Telephone connectivity is also available as an optional feature to inform automatically the Maintenance in-charge /Head Office in case a service call is required. The critical parameters including total power consumption, oxygen purity and dew point, Ozone concentration, flow, yield, and all temperatures are monitored and control the good functionality of the Ozone Plant. For instance, Oxygen purity of 90% is accepted as minimum and below 90% a warning indication is given to alert the operator to check the oxygen concentrator (if PSA oxygen is used). When Liquid Oxygen is used (LOX) there is no possibility of the point of oxygen demand going down and the purity is always 100%. In such case Dry air or Nitrogen is introduced with liquid oxygen as catalyst to improve the ozone generation. The maximum ozone generation is at 95-96% pure oxygen with LOX.
