As per mandate passed by the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), they made below mentioned two certificates mandatory for Nigerian Import. It is effective from 4th September 2009. (1) Product Certification-per product/prior to shipment- Product Certificate will be required by the Nigerian importer to open a Form M (Import Application) prior to shipment of the goods to Nigeria. (2) SONCAP Certification-per shipment/at time of shipment- The SONCAP Certificate is required by the importer for every shipment for Customs clearance of the goods in Nigeria. SGS is appointed as Certification body by SON w.e.f 17th April 2009.
