Dry ice if obtained when the pressure of liquid CO₂ lowered through a nozzle or other constriction. A portion of the liquid CO₂ is passed through the nozzle, vaporized and the remaining liquid is cooled at a very low temperature. The process changes final material into snow that is acquired as solid Carbon Dioxide or Dry Ice.

Dry ice becomes at the temperature of -80°C. As a functional tool dry ice find its use in several applications in different industries and in commercial purposes.

Some of the applications are:

• In heat sensitive chemical reactions which need to be carried at lower temperatures.
• Tempering of blades is primarily done with the use of dry ice.
• Shrink fitting is done by using dry ice for closer tolerances.
