One of the most important instruments in spinal surgery is the Kerrison Rongeur. These instruments are manufactured by a variety of suppliers, and there are numerous tiers in the quality spectrum. Outward appearance may be similar, but a difference can often be discerned with the feel of the instrument, the power of its bite, and the ease of squeezing the handle. Endo Tech Kerrison Rongeurs are available with a variety of handles: Large, Small or Micro, and Ferris-Smith. They come in lengths from 180mm to 300mm (7 to 12 inch) and jaw sizes from 1mm up to 7mm. There are 90 degree and 50 degree bite angles, up-biting and down-biting, and special versions with curved shanks designed to preserve the facet joint during foraminotomy.
